“House Price Crash Is Cancelled” Screams The Psycho (Bruno Powroznik)

Bruno Powroznik & The UK Property Market

I’ve come across many obscure property enthusiasts people in my time, but none quite as extreme as my most recent find, Bruno Powroznik.

Powroznik was a regular rantee on the popular House Price Crash forums, with passionate views so volatile and so obscure, that he’s managed to form somewhat of a cult following, or at the very least, a thriving thirst for more information on the man himself.

Just to give you some perspective, I make routine trips to the House Price Crash website, so I’m regularly exposed to crazy on steroids! And let’s not forget about my pal Rob, who seems to have obtained a grossly unhealthy and abnormal obsession with Sarah Beeny’s tits (although crazy, understandable). So the standard is high. However, Bruno Powroznik manages to effortlessly excel in obscurity.

Bruno’s obsession and love affair with the UK housing market (among other antics), specifically his unwavering support of its strength, is simply bizarre.

Bruno PowroznikBruno Powroznik did have a website dedicated to the anti house-price crash, but sadly it’s been taken offline. Actually, it wasn’t so much of a website, but rather, one very dated and vibrant page, filled with his obsessive and chaotic views on the property market. It was a genuine shrine to both his lunacy and passion [for the UK property market].

In fact, his rants were so bizarre and jarring that he even managed to get banned from the House Price Crash forums. Yes, when a nut-house banishes someone for being too unhinged, I think it’s safe to presume that an out of the ordinary force of lunacy was present.

For those that missed the boat, or couldn’t get their buggy Internet Explorer browser to load Powroznik’s web page (when it was till active), unfortunately you missed out on a piece of internet memorabilia, which I’m sure will be talked about for years to come, and only raise more questions than answers.

Fortunately, I managed to capture a few of the visual highlights. Yes, it’s better than nothing, but sadly it can never do justice to the real thing (BTW, Powroznik appeared to be a lunatic in many aspects, so obviously he broke the first rule of modern web-design by enforcing God awful auto-play background music on his web page, so perhaps that’s something to bear in mind if you want to simulate ):

(Yes, that is Bruno. I’m not quite sure what the blonde wig is about (am I missing something?)).

DING DONG, the psycho has entered the building.

Bruno Powroznik’s passion for the UK property market

While I’m uncertain on whether Powroznik is one big fictional hoax or not, I’m going to take him and his stance on the property market seriously. On a side note, if I’m to take him seriously, I’d also have to concede that he most likely suffers from genuine mental health issues (which could explain his most notorious contribution to the internet, a video titled, “OBJECTS THAT I HAVE SHOVED UP MY ARSE” And no, that’s not a metaphor, it’s exactly what it says).

Similarly to his position, I’m also a firm believer in a strong UK property market. I have no qualms with rolling up my sleeves and defending a sustainable property market.

Actually, I broadly agree with many of his ideas that he’s so inelegantly splattered over his butt-ugly site. The thing is, I believe in slaughtering a cow humanely, I don’t believe in torturing a cow to death with a blunt spoon, and the latter is how it seems like Bruno is trying to get his message across (which is probably why he attracts enemies and fans alike).

What I do disagree on though, in his apparent view on the UK housing market being invincible. Yes, I believe the UK property market will always be a safe bet in the long-term, but I also believe in the natural cycle, which includes dips, booms and crashes.

Tracking Bruno Powroznik

Unfortunately (and I mean that with all my heart, UNFORTUNATELY), whilst writing this blog post (and updating it several years later), my curiosity got the better of me. More to the point, Bruno is kind of like a car crash; absolutely hideous in most parts, but extremely intriguing on many levels. With that in mind, admittedly, I did fall down a bit of a rabbit hole. I needed to find out more about the guy.

From what I can tell, he hasn’t been active for several years, and his absence has only stoked the flames of curiosity for many people. Where is he now? What is he doing?

Recent update on Bruno Powroznik

Subreddit

There seems to be a relatively active subreddit that is dedicated to curating Powroznik’s work and most recent activity.

While Bruna Powroznik remains a mystery and an intriguing point of interest (probably for all the wrong reasons), one thing is for sure, he’s a unique character, and I hope he’s doing well.

The important thing to consider is that while he may be a complete idiot if you use the wayback machine there is evidence that Bruno accurately predicted the 2005 property market crash. The underlying theme of his content is sarcasm as he has a genuine hatred of STR's. The man is incredibly smart but he must have been driving insane considering as of this day he has completely disappeared from the face of the earth.
